Well, its official! We are 13 weeks along with baby bean 2.0. While not exactly planned, it is exciting and will be great for L to have a sibling so close in age.
I have decided to try a home birth this time around. I think this will be a better experience for us all. With L, it was very traumatic... I was induced early for pre-e. Hopefully this experience will be the exact opposite.
We met with the midwife today. She is actually a Naturpathic Physician (ND) and midwife. What a totally different experience than the conventional doctor! It is fabulous that someone else trusts my body as much as I do, and is willing to work with me and TEACH me how to take better care of myself and baby on this journey, rather than just try to mitigate/cover up symptoms.
Yes, I have fears. Especially with the things that happened with L's birth. We are about an hour (more with traffic) from the closest maternity hospital and decent ER. For this reason, I am also meeting with an OB for regular prenatal care... just in case we end up in an emergency situation again. My risks are low, and I am very excited.
Have you had a home birth? What are your experiences?
